Description
When the idea for Druthers was first hatched and we would daydream about what our operation would look like on the day that we fired up the kettles and threw open the doors, we all had the same vision - renovating an old warehouse, bringing in rows of huge, shiny, stainless steel tanks, adding wall to wall stacks of kegs, and working among the consistent humming of a Laverne & Shirley-style bottling line.
It’s funny how visions can change when high ticket brewing systems run into the shoestring budget that we had. After seeing the price for a huge brewing system and not being able to clearly articulate how we would sell (or who would buy) enough beer to make ends meet, we were faced with a tough choice – let the brewing dream die an untimely death or start small – with a brew pub.
We chose to start with a brew pub and now have two, with locations in Saratoga Springs, New York and Albany, New York. We pair our rotating menu of craft beers with some pretty tasty comfort food offerings.
If you are in the area, stop by and see us. There is nothing quite as satisfying as drinking a pint drawn directly from the serving tanks. No bottles, no packaging, just kettle to fermenter to serving tank to your glass. The freshness is unparalleled.
